Expressions of Sympathy
Expressing Sympathy is an expression or feeling of pity and sorrow when we know and see someone or people are unlucky or have trouble and in bad condition. By expressing sympathy we want to show our concern of carefulness or other people’s condition. We express sympathy expression directly to him / her orally or use a letter or card by post also by short message service (SMS), television, radio, E-mail, and newspaper.
Expressing Sympathy :
a. If you want to respond to good news, you can use the following expressing:
How nice . . . !
How exciting !
I’m pleased to hear that.
I’m (very) glad to hear that.
Wow. I’m so happy to hear that. ~^^~
b. If you want to respond to bad news, you can use the following expressing:
How terrible !
I’m sorry to hear that.
That’s too bad.
You must be very upset. Keep spirit and strong.
